How I Get My Press-On Nails to Last 3+ Weeks (Even As a Bartender)

Believe it or not it IS possible to get your Press-On nails to last. With the right products and prep techniques, custom press on nails can last two even THREE weeks! That's right, I said it, three weeks.  Im going to walk you through my process on how I got my Claw Room dip powder press-ons to last me three plus weeks. Even doing a job that is rough on your nails.

It's no secret that good prep techniques are essential for longer lasting nails, even with press-ons.  This means removing all the cuticles and debris from the nail bed with a nail drill and diamond cuticle bit or any other cuticle pusher (the glass ones are the best after the nail drill of course, removing the shine from the nail plate with your diamond bit and drill or nail file, and, dehydrating the nail plate with a dehydrator (our favorite right now is from the brand Apres pictured here).

You can also use the complimentary alcohol wipe that comes in your prep kit but it won't yield the same results as an actual dehydrator.  So now you know what you need, grab your nails and lets get started.

Step one:  With your nail drill and diamond cuticle bit (pictured Here) or cuticle pusher, remove all the dead cuticle from the nail plate.  If using a drill be sure to keep the bit level with the nail plate and don't go over 5 rpms. You do not need a lot of speed for this at all and you do not need an expensive drill, a $20 drill from your local beauty supplier will work just fine.  If your using a cuticle pusher (especially with glass ones) it helps to move it in circular motions until there is nothing left on the nail plate, then use a nail file to file off all the shine. You can just use the drill bit to go over the entire nail if you're using a drill.

Step two: Use the nail dehydrator and go over every nail. Easy Peasy.

Step three: Apply the nail Glue that Is included in your prep kit or your favorite, ours is the makarrt (pictured here)

You can purchase extras on theclawroom.com if you run out.

When your applying the glue we suggest being generous with it, don't worry if it seeps out of the sides you can sweep it right off with a little paint brush dipped in 100% pure acetone ( we always keep one ready to go during applications).  hold the nail in place for a minute or so.

There you have it. This is our tried and true way to get your Claw Room press-on manicure to last. We hope you enjoy and happy manis!
